My mother-in-law is always going through our fridge and taking food

I know that not everyone will support me, there will be critics, but I still want to share my story.

It all started when my son wasn’t accepted into daycare and I had to go out to work. I had to wait at least another year. We had no connections, and we couldn’t afford a babysitter. My husband and I got very upset and started looking for a way out. Staying on maternity leave was out of the question – we were already living very modestly.

My mother-in-law offered to help us. Of course I was surprised, since she didn’t even ask for anything in return. We agreed. For the first few months everything was fine. I made food for the day, left money and did everything I could to ease my relative’s labors. As a sign of gratitude we gave her a large sum of money for her anniversary – she was able to rest in a sanatorium. And then the problems started…

I got used to cooking in stock, since I don’t have time to stand at the stove every day. At some point I noticed that we started to lose food. My mother-in-law would come with her trays, put food there and take it home. In general, no matter how much I cooked, the refrigerator was always empty.

– Why do you take food home? – I dared to ask her a question.
– You’re a very good cook, and I don’t have time to cook,” answered my mother-in-law.

I wasn’t against it, but she took everything and left us nothing. I put two bottles of milk – she kept them for herself. I bought a kilo of cheese – I came home and it was gone.

What should I do? We already have problems with finances, we can’t feed two families. My mother-in-law gets a good pension, it’s not about the money. My husband doesn’t see a problem, and I’m tired of working on just food.
