My husband wants to help his ex-wife pay off her debts. And I, of course, am vehemently opposed to this

When I married Philip, of course, I knew that he had been married before and that he had two children with his first wife. Philip divorced his wife four years ago. Of course, he continues to communicate with her. But they have only one topic for communication: their children. Of course, Philip, being a good father, pays child support for his children and also helps his wife with money.

And then recently my husband decided to help his ex-wife more seriously. It turns out that three years ago, his ex-wife took out a big loan from the bank to go into business. But nothing worked out for her: she was never able to become a businesswoman. But the money was spent, and the loan had to be repaid.

The amount of the loan was large, and the interest had already accumulated just huge. It is good that she had the good sense to rewrite the apartment to her mother, or else she would have remained on the street with the children because of her debts. And so Philip started hinting that his ex-wife had debts, and that his children lived with her, and therefore they needed help with money.

– Otherwise she will never pay off her debts. I want to give her half of my salary. You don’t mind, do you?
– What are you talking about? Who is she to you now?! She’s your ex-wife!
– My children live with her! I have to help her!
– You’re already helping her! You pay alimony for your children and you help them with money! So you’re providing for your kids all right! And let your ex-wife deal with her own debts! Why do I have to put myself through everything to help my ex-wife?! Don’t you dare give her half of your salary! – I told my husband.

And he took great offense at me for that. But I think I’m absolutely right. And you agree with me?
