I lived with Maxim for more than ten years. It seemed that everything was good – the daughter grew up a little, there was plenty and peace in the house, my husband loved me and our daughter, gave her much of his time.
One day, Max met his friend from the university again. He offered him a job with a decent salary. My husband agreed to it but after that I lost my peace of mind forever.
My husband, Max began to disappear in the evenings. He started going to bars and saunas with his friend regularly. Sometimes he wouldn’t even spend the night at home- he became very irritable when I would try to talk to him about it. Max was spending less time with our daughter and found that spending time at home alone bored him; hanging out with friends was much more interesting.
Once, Max came home with a young and slim girl. My husband told me to pack my things and leave with our daughter.
I was in shock. I asked him to please have mercy on my daughter – it was late at night and we had nowhere else to go. But Maxim paid us no attention; he picked up our daughter from the bed and threw us out of the door.
We were left on the street with nothing. We spent the night at my friend’s place, and in the morning we went to my native village with my daughter. I had no one there but the parental home on the outskirts. It was an old brick house that needed major repairs – through the cracks in the windows cold air came in, water dripped from the ceiling, and floor boards were rotten. But I fixed everything up myself using makeshift tools so that it would be habitable.
A neighbour who I remembered from childhood had recently moved in close by. We started talking and helping each other out where we could. Shortly after, the neighbour became ill and wasn’t able to look after her livestock anymore, so she asked me if I would take them all in. She just gave us a cow, ten chickens and two piglets – it was really strange!
As time went on, the farm grew. My daughter and I couldn’t eat as much as we were getting from the livestock. So I decided to sell the village produce – eggs, milk, cheese, butter.
I thought of starting a small business, so I bought another cow and started making various dairy products to sell. This idea turned out to be quite profitable, and my dairy products began appearing on the shelves of several stores. I became a real farmer even hired a few assistants to help take care for the farm.
My former mother-in-law called me. She seemed to have forgotten about her granddaughter and hadn’t been in touch since we were left on our own. I didn’t want to talk to her about anything so I told her that.
It seems that Maxim’s mother told him that I am doing well now, I have my own business and money. Maxim always listened to his mother, so a few days later he came to the village.
He saw that we live in a nice house, not the old house where we lived first, and he saw that there was a car next to it and that our child is well taken care of. And for some reason Maxim decided he has the right to interfere with our lives now.
However, he could not imagine that in front of him was no longer his loyal and innocent wife, but a completely different woman. I have become strong, proud and self-confident individual who will not allow anyone to manipulate.
When he came over to my office to try and make up with me, I pushed him away. I didn’t want anything to do with him or talk to him anymore. So I called one of my employees and asked him: “Please show this man where the exit is – he’s apparently come here by mistake.” And then I walked away. As soon as I closed the door behind me, I started crying because even though we were divorced, I still loved Maxim and wanted our daughter to have a father around her. But his shameful infidelity was something that I could never forgive him for – he’d effectively thrown us both out onto the street when he chose his mistress over his own family.
