My husband and I couldn’t make a life for ourselves in the capital. But we don’t want to go back to our hometown either. What should we do?

I am 37 years old. My husband and I are not Muscovites. We came to the capital 12 years ago. We came from a small town with just one suitcase and ten thousand rubles in our pockets. We had nothing to lose. We were just tired of living in our small town and working for a penny.

– So why do you need Moscow? Live here! With us. We’ve got an apartment! Give birth to a child, we’ll help you! – My mother used to talk us into it.

But we decided to do something different. First we rented a small room on the outskirts of Moscow. Then we quickly found a job and in six months we moved into a normal apartment. We even went on a vacation to the sea. And then I got pregnant. We didn’t get upset. After all, we believed that everything would work out. We hoped that we would eventually buy an apartment in Moscow.

But the reality was more stark. Our daughter is already ten years old. And we still haven’t been able to buy an apartment. The thing is that real estate is constantly going up in price and we can’t raise the necessary amount of money.

We have already spent so much money to live in a rented apartment! We just don’t know what to do. My husband and I don’t want to buy an apartment on a mortgage, so we’ve decided to save up for an apartment. But we can’t do it because prices are constantly going up.

Because of this, I’m starting to get terribly depressed. I think about the fact that our daughter is growing up, and we will need money for her education as well. And we don’t have that money. Although my husband and I earn fine. But we also want to live normally: we want to eat normally, we want to rest and dress normally. And all this requires money, and not a little money.

My husband and I understand that we are getting old, and we will never be able to buy a place to live in Moscow. We get very tired at work, and so we spend all weekends just lying on the couch and resting. I even went to the doctor and had a check-up. But it turned out that there is nothing wrong with my health.

– Think positively and have more rest! – My doctor told me.

But this is from the realm of science fiction!

My husband and I do not want to go back home: the salary there is very small. And also we will laugh with all our friends. They will be glad that we did not work out. My husband and I do not know what to do. We are tired of living like this, and we don’t have the strength or ability to change anything…
