My daughter was very surprised when I refused to babysit my grandson while she and her husband vacationed in Egypt

Six years ago I was very excited to have a grandchild. Of course, I promised my daughter that I would help her with the baby, and for the first few months I practically lived in their house, combining duties as a maid, cook and governess. I guess my daughter quickly got used to it, and my further “duties” in relation to their family only grew like a snowball. My grandson went to kindergarten and I thought I could breathe a sigh of relief. No! “Mom, pick up Richard today, we can’t!” It was “pick him up,” not “can you pick him up?”

As time went on, I no longer reacted so keenly to “Mom pick up,” I just changed my plans, and rushed to daycare so Richard wouldn’t have to stay in the on-call group. One day I saw him standing by the window, looking out the alleyway to the main entrance of the day care center. When he noticed me, he even jumped for joy that someone had finally come for him.

I talked to my daughter afterward and asked her not to wait too long to pick up my grandson, and she told me, “Mom, if you put it that way, pick up Richard early so I can get this problem out of my head.

I was just disgusted that my daughter thought it was a problem to pick up her son from kindergarten on time. I kept silent, and in the future I would pick up my grandson even earlier than the other kids were picked up. And then – another surprise. My daughter calls me, and she puts me in front of the fact:

– Mom, we are having a little relaxation in business, we took a trip to Egypt, we will go on a couple of weeks vacation.

I was excited – my grandson would see the sea, the rich fish fauna of Egypt’s coastal waters, the pyramids… But I rejoiced too early.
– “I want you to take Richard home tonight and let him stay with you tonight!

I had an epiphany:
– What do you mean, “already sleeps over”? Aren’t you taking him with you?
– Of course not! Who goes on vacation with a “trailer”?
– You know what, my dear “tractor,” you and your husband have already completely lost the coast! I have my own plans and my own life. So, hitch the “trailer”, and travel with him! The baby and barely sees you, and here, for half a month decided to disappear! You gave birth, grow up! I will help you, not do everything for you, whether you take offense or not.

Of course, the daughter was offended, how can it be, for so many years – such a categorical retort! Richard flew with them to Egypt, bathed in the sea, and the sea of emotion daughter, after a vacation, I hope to calm down, and she will understand that you can not dispose of other people’s time, even if it is time of her mother.
