My daughter-in-law is from a dysfunctional family, so she is not raising her children correctly. I try to re-educate my grandchildren.

I have a son. I don’t know why, but he chose a girl from a dysfunctional family to be his wife. My daughter-in-law’s mother washes the entryway, and my stepfather drinks, and a lot. Of course, he can’t hold down a single job. So he earns his booze by doing odd jobs.

And my daughter-in-law, who is 26, and her younger sisters, who are 15 and 13, have not lived very well all their lives. Nothing good can be said about my sister-in-law’s own father either. He is in jail and has never paid child support. First my son dated Amanda, then they started living together. Then, when Amanda got pregnant, he got married.

The introduction to her family happened in a very peculiar way. Amanda cooked the hot meal. And I cooked different salads and appetizers, bought champagne and wine. And Amanda’s parents only came with two bottles of vodka and that was it.

The acquaintance took place very violently and with foul language. The matchmakers insisted on having a lavish wedding in a cafe. Guess who had to pay for it? My husband and I, of course.

– What’s the big deal? After all, your husband works and earns good money! – He told me my future matchmaker.

But I turned down this option for the wedding. We played a wedding at home, and there were only 20 guests invited. I was very embarrassed in front of the other guests for my matchmakers. The matchmaker behaved more or less normally, but the matchmaker got drunk, said all sorts of silly things, and made very vulgar jokes. I was very ashamed of him in front of the other guests.

Of course, Amanda is like her parents. She gave birth one after the other to two sons. They are good boys, but very badly brought up. The son is not involved in child-rearing. He and his wife bought an apartment with a mortgage, so now the son works two jobs. He only comes home to sleep. Amanda is in charge of the children’s upbringing.

The older grandson is 8 years old and the younger grandson is 6 years old. The boys swear a lot. They swear and fight and call names all the time. And they are not embarrassed by the adults at all! I tried to take my grandchildren to my house on weekends. It was horrible: I ruined my whole weekend. So this summer I went to the summer house. My husband and I have owned it for years. We inherited it from my husband’s parents.

I took my grandchildren with me. We spent two weeks at the cottage. I tried to do my best to reeducate them. We read a lot with them. I taught them how to behave at the table, taught them to work. And they became completely different. They stopped swearing and helped me in the household: they fetch water and gather fruit from the garden.

It was a pleasure to look at them!
I brought my parents normal kids. My son thanked me, and my daughter-in-law said

– “What children they were, they are what they are now!

I asked her to bring them up the same way I did. And she often took her children to her parents. At that time I was working, and then I got sick. I didn’t see my grandchildren for a very long time.

And then they came to see us on New Year’s Eve. It was a nightmare! The boys were fighting and fighting all the time. And then they started swearing, too! It was horrible. I tried to explain to my grandchildren that this is no way to behave. But they just laughed.

I don’t know what they will grow up to be if they continue to be raised like this by my daughter-in-law. Probably nothing good will come out of them.
