My husband and I have a decent family. Both have a first marriage and have lived together for 25 years. Never fought in front of our daughter, showed love and care. All in all, we have a happy marriage. We hoped that since we have a happy marriage, our daughter will see this example and will create her own family successfully too. They say that children always look up to their parents.
But here’s the problem. My daughter did not marry, but she has a young man. Two years ago my mother died and her apartment was left. We decided with my husband to give it to my daughter. And she told us that she was living there with a young man.
We have nothing against her settling her personal life. But her young man is just awful. In what way? He doesn’t do anything at all around the house, no manly work. If a faucet is broken or a light bulb needs screwing in, her daughter immediately calls her father. We’ve asked more than once why her boyfriend doesn’t do anything – she doesn’t say a word. She keeps promising he will start doing something soon.
And recently I found out that he is also unemployed. That is, he does not bring any money into the house and his daughter carries everything on her shoulders. He works two jobs to feed his two foreheads. He doesn’t really care.
I told her he was a bad boyfriend. She still won’t give a damn. She thinks he’ll change and they’ll be fine. She loves him. And I love my daughter and my heart aches for her.
