When I turned 25, I got married. I was having a rough time after breaking up with my boyfriend. I immersed myself in working at our family store. We did renovations in the store, and my parents organized a small party to which they invited friends and partners. That night I met Michael, a 38-year-old divorced man. Throughout the party he never left my side. And his compliments and inappropriate jokes began to bore me. The impression of acquaintance was not the most pleasant. However, after a while he invited me for a walk. I broke up with my boyfriend and wanted to distract myself, so I agreed.
We dated Michael for about a year. When he asked me to be his wife, I immediately agreed. Only it didn’t go the way I wanted. Always wanted to wear a fancy dress to the wedding. However, Michael said that the money he had set aside for a graduation party for his daughter. We also had to give up a trip to Turkey on our honeymoon. We ended up getting married modestly, and celebrated at my in-laws’ house.
After the wedding we went to live with my husband and his mother. The woman tried to show everyone that she belonged to high society. But living with her, I immediately realized that this was far from reality. My mother-in-law was such a hostess. I had to put the house in order for two months. My parents gave me money to fix the bathroom. I spent all day cooking and cleaning. I like cleanliness and order, so I couldn’t imagine my life any other way. But I didn’t like the surprise visits from my daughter, who came to my father for money.
My husband was too generous with his daughter. Her prom dress cost much more than my wedding dress. In addition, Mikhail gave his daughter and her mother a trip to Turkey as a graduation present. And we were supposed to go there! It was our honeymoon period!
Then his daughter couldn’t get into college and Mikhail said he would pay her tuition in full. After I got married, I continued to work in my parents’ store. Our family expenses were completely on me! I was the only one buying groceries. My parents regularly brought us meat and vegetables, filling the refrigerator to the brim. Michael still provided for his daughter and mother. I liked that my husband was a caring father and son. But why should I have to pull on the whole house? After all, I was younger than he was, and I wanted a man to take care of me. But all his care was only in words.
A month ago my brother got married. My parents sold the dacha. I told my husband about everything when my brother got the money. My husband did not like it and immediately told my mother about everything. My mother-in-law called my parents and became indignant. According to her, since I got married without a dowry, my husband had to get some of the money! It’s ridiculous! Now I am already doubting whether I should have married such a man.
What do you think?
