Ronald got married a long time ago and has a daughter. She’s a big one. But not his own – he took a woman with a child. No matter how hard they tried to have a child together, they did not succeed.
Suddenly Ronald began to change. He sometimes talked a little bit when talking to his daughter. He would call her “sonny,” “favorite boy,” or “Arthur,” even though his daughter’s name was Emma. Daughter did not pay attention to this – well, it happens. But Ronald’s wife Monica immediately realized she was pregnant. She reported this to her husband. But he did not show much joy. In short, not the reaction she expected from her husband. The baby was long overdue. He’d been dreaming about it for so long. And here is such a calm reaction.
Monica carried the baby with great difficulty. She was already old, suffering from toxicosis. She hardly ate anything. When the term was over, her blood pressure skyrocketed. Kidney problems began. Ronald tried to take care of his wife, but there were still some oddities in his behavior. At the ultrasound they said that a daughter would be born. And Ronald would buy cars and brag to his wife about how great he was.
Look at the tractor I bought Arthur, it’s really nice, isn’t it?
Ronald, which Arthur are you talking about? You and I are waiting for our daughter.
Exactly! What am I…
And such cases were repeated from time to time. One day the daughter comes to her mother to visit her in the hospital and says:
Mom, today I saw our father walking in the park with a kid. A little boy like that.
So we found out everything.
Monica dialed her husband and called him. He came to the hospital and told her everything. One day at work he drank too much at a party. They were celebrating something. In the morning he found himself in the secretary’s bed. He doesn’t like her, but she managed to get knocked up. Then Arthur was born and Ronald had to admit paternity. He helped them with money and took part in the upbringing. Ronald became attached to the child and does not want to part with him. Monica decided to forgive her husband. She went to reconcile with him. Then they had a beautiful baby girl. By the time Ronald was discharged, he arrived with his son. The child was about a year old – a baby still.
Life went on. Ronald brought the boy on holidays and weekends. Sometimes he would pick him up after work. And after a while, the child moved into his father’s house. Ronald officially recognized custody and the boy’s mother left town. A year later, they found out by chance that Arthur was not Ronald’s own. As it turned out, he was just someone else’s boy. Monica was overjoyed by this fact, but no one chased him away. They consulted and decided to raise him further. Not to put him in an orphanage.
Five years later, Arthur was still Ronald’s favorite son, and Monica had grown attached to him. She didn’t divide children into her own and other people’s. And she never regretted taking someone else’s son into her family. The boy’s mother came just once to write an official rejection of the child. No one bothered to tell her that her lie had been exposed. So much water has flowed since then…
