– It doesn’t look good that your kids will have apartments and my son won’t. Let’s get him an apartment with a mortgage!

Recently, my husband Anton stated that my children have apartments and his child does not, so we need to think about how to make sure his child also has an apartment. Let me make it clear that my children are my children and Anton’s, and Anton’s son is his child from his first marriage.

Why should I be the one dealing with this and worrying about housing for him? Of course, I knew that Anton was married and had a child. So I wasn’t in a hurry to marry Anton.

We lived together for three years before we got married. I kept a close eye on how Anton felt about his ex-wife and his child. A year later I gave birth to a son. After another two years, I gave birth to my second son as well.

I am completely satisfied with Anton: both as a husband and as a father. He devotes time to both me and the children. Anton earns good money. Of course, sometimes we have quarrels and conflicts, but they happen in every family.

We lived in the apartment that I inherited from my father. My mother divorced him when I was still in kindergarten. Now my mother was married for the second time, but she had no children in her second marriage.

Anton and his first wife always lived in a rented apartment. All the years they lived together, they saved up for a mortgage, but never managed to save up. After divorcing Anton, his wife went back to live with her parents. And Anton lived in a rented apartment after the divorce.

When we got married, he moved in with me. We didn’t focus on who owned the apartment. We just lived in my apartment and did everything: both repairs and buying new furniture. But a year and a half ago my grandmothers died one after the other: my mother’s mother and my father’s mother. Both apartments were left to me: my grandmothers bequeathed them to me.

While my children are young, I decided that I would rent out these apartments. And then I will give each son an apartment. Now I give the money for renting one apartment to my mother: so that she has a supplement to her pension. And the money for the second apartment is a bonus to my salary. After all, money is never superfluous.

My husband did not interfere in my affairs with the apartments: after all, he has nothing to do with them. But I immediately told him that when our children grow up, I would give each child an apartment. He agreed to that. And that was it, the subject was closed.

And then all of a sudden my husband said to me:
– My son is graduating from high school in a couple of years. He’s an adult and already need to think about his future!

I didn’t understand what my husband was getting at, but I listened to him.
– Your kids have apartments! My son doesn’t! Let’s buy my son an apartment with a mortgage! – Suddenly my husband told me.

I was just shocked! I had a lot of questions. First, I asked my husband: why are our common children suddenly mine alone? And Anton asked me not to mince words.

– But my son will never inherit anything. I want him to have his own place!
– It’s very good that you’re thinking about it! But your son has a mother and a father to think about it. Why isn’t your wife doing that?

My husband explains to me that his wife earns very little money, and her parents help her all the time. And he can’t pay the mortgage alone. But if I help him, it will work out. It turned out that I had to agree to Anton buying an apartment with a mortgage for his son. The apartment would be registered in his son’s name. But it would be the two of us who would pay the mortgage.

– But you and I have two good salaries and money from renting the apartment! We’ll make it!” Anton tells me.

We can do it, but we have to save a lot to do it. After all, Anton also pays alimony for his son. And when his son goes to college, Anton will help him again because his mother has no money. It turns out that, because of his son, my children and I will have no vacations, and we will not go to the sea. We’ll be constantly saving on everything. For what? For Anton to look like a good dad?

I would understand if Anton was the one who provided our children with a place to live, but his eldest son didn’t. Then it would really be unfair and very ugly. But I was the one who provided my children with housing. My husband had nothing to do with these apartments. Why should I have to pay money for the mortgage?

I immediately told Anton that if he was so worried about his son, then let his wife take the mortgage. And let him pay the mortgage with the alimony.
– But I won’t be a part of it!

My husband is very upset with me and he hasn’t spoken to me in a week. It’s too bad he doesn’t understand me.
