Patrick has a sister who lives in the next block. In spite of this proximity, the man hardly ever visits her. His sister comes to him on all the holidays – he invites her, she does not refuse. She visits with her husband and children and with empty hands. But Patrick never paid attention to these little things.
The only thing that stressed him out was that his sister did not invite him over. Even if he brazenly went to her, she would go out on the landing and talk to him there. When his parents were alive, Patrick was often at his sister’s house. He brought presents for his nephews and sweets for tea. When he was young, he used to take his guitar with him and sing songs in his sister’s kitchen.
Those were great times. But time passed, children grew up, and he and his sister grew old. When their parents died, my sister stopped inviting them to visit. Patrick’s wife saw how upset he was and offered to invite them over for pies and buns.
And so it was always. But then his sister called him the other day and started to ask him how to make stuffed cabbage rolls. When Patrick described everything in detail, he told his sister:
– You cook more, we’ll come and sample it!
– Come only with your own food! – answered the sister.
For some reason Patrick was so offended. He has never gone to the house empty-handed, and now such a request. And he does not go out to eat, but to talk and spend time together. Turns out his own sister wouldn’t take him without food.
What should he do?
