Everything went wrong in my life when I started dating Ronald when I was in college. We went to school together, and his mom was the vice principal. But for some reason we didn’t like each other much at school. It was at university after three years after school that we somehow met at a party and started dating from that time. And six months later I found out that I was pregnant. I wasn’t sure if Ronald and I would have a happy family, but there was no other way out. I had to become his wife.
Three years after my first daughter was born, I gave birth to my second daughter. It was not easy to get paid. Teachers are not rich people. My husband was either working or sitting at home, he was depressed. And after five years he started drinking. I was terribly tired to live in my mother-in-law’s house and listen to her stories about how her son was poor and that he should be understood, since he drank. He needed to be understood, and I needed to work hard. That is when I decided to go to Germany to work. The children stayed with my husband and mother-in-law, and I left.
At first I was away for half a year, when I came back home, everything was the same there. My husband was drinking, my mother-in-law was still feeling sorry for him. I went away again, but for a year now. Again, nothing had changed. Except for the fact that my mother-in-law kept complaining that I had abandoned the kids and that I was out on my own. But that wasn’t true. I worked hard to support my children and buy us an apartment. In Germany, though, there was one German, who liked me a lot and wanted to start a family with me. But even though my husband was a drunkard and a slacker, I wasn’t going to betray him.
The point came when I went away again for a year and came back and my kids started calling me aunt and wouldn’t even talk to me. My mother-in-law had set them up so much that I couldn’t even believe it. I had no choice but to divorce my husband and go back to Germany and accept a German proposal. It’s been five years, my daughters have grown up, we have established communication with them, soon the eldest will come to me to study, and then the youngest. With my foreign husband I have love and a happy marriage. My ex-boyfriend became such a drunkard that it is shameful to say. My mother-in-law still feels sorry for him. It’s good that I made the right choice after all.
