In the villages, manners and upbringing are markedly different from those in the cities, even in our modern times, so when I was going to go to the capital, my father was strongly against it. Fortunately, I was supported by my mother, secretly from my father, she gave me part of the family savings.
The big city greeted me friendly enough, I rented a room, and after three days already worked in the art studio design the administrator. Apart from work I had never been anywhere, I saved every penny and sent money to my parents every month.
After a while one of the co-owners of the studio started wooing me, he wooed unobtrusively, beautifully, and the theme of family and a serious relationship was always present in the subtext.
I, in my inexperience, took his rants at face value, and made a step towards him. Mark immediately offered to move in with him, and for two months I lived like in heaven. Then I realized that I was pregnant. Mark, upon hearing the news, asked me to find a place and vacate his apartment. He didn’t want to hear about any marriage or further meetings, let alone a child. The only thing he agreed to was not to fire me from my position as an administrator in order to have a livelihood.
That’s how I worked at the studio until my maternity leave. The childbirth was successful, I gave birth to a girl, and I immediately wrote a denial. The doctors weren’t particularly surprised and didn’t try to talk me out of it. The only person in the maternity hospital who took my action to heart was an elderly nurse. Every day she urged me to withdraw my application, told me about the sad fate of my little girl, if she had grown up without her mother.
At first I just turned my back to the wall, but then I opened up and told her that her father wouldn’t let me and the baby on the doorstep. The nurse asked for my mother’s phone number, called her, I do not know what she said, but my mother was in the maternity hospital the next day.
After talking with her, the question of refusal fell away by itself. We returned to the village together, of course, there was a difficult conversation with my father, but the little granddaughter had melted his heart, and my father changed his anger for mercy.
Now, thanks to the nurse from the maternity hospital, I now have a wonderful daughter, and the same nurse became her godmother.
