I have a wife, but the fridge is empty and the house is a mess! I’m getting a divorce!

In my 27 years, I didn’t really worry about not having any relationships. When I looked at my close friends and their relationships with their soulmates, with whom they were constantly fighting, figuring things out, I knew I didn’t need that headache. Why, I have my own apartment, car, stable job. From time to time I went out with girls, but nothing serious was envisaged.

I thought I would live my own quiet life, but fate prepared something else for me. One day I went to a party with some of my closest friends. All of them were couples, and I was alone. The evening was just in full swing, we were having fun, drinking delicious wine, eating sushi and then another girl came over. She was also alone, as was I. When I saw just Laura, I immediately really liked her.

I felt something of my own in her. And she smiled at me very sweetly. I went up to her first to get acquainted, and when I introduced myself, I saw a light in her eyes. Even then I realized that this girl I met for a reason and she was very different from the others. Literally a week later we started dating and a couple of months later I asked Laura to be my wife. She is smart, beautiful, sweet, very well-mannered, and also an excellent hostess. Well, how could I miss out on such a girl? And Laura immediately agreed to be my wife. We lived in my apartment.

At first I couldn’t get over the fact that this dream girl was my wife. She constantly met me at home with a delicious dinner, she dressed beautifully, we went on trips, everything was fine with us.

Then Laura changed jobs. At her former job she was not satisfied with the salary, and the commute was very far. At the same time the pandemic started, my wife switched to a remote job. In fact, it was even better, she was constantly at home, and she could do both work and more at home. But over time, my wife really neglected herself. Always tired, wearing some old clothes. I would come home and the fridge was just empty, dirty everywhere, things scattered. When I asked her what was wrong, Laura answered me sternly: I work. So what if she works? She is at home, and when she went into town, everything was fine.

Now she refused to cook or buy food at all. She says she can get by with chips. And chips are not food for me, I want to eat well. For about a year I kept buying food in restaurants, and then I just got tired. I asked Laura once again if things would be the same as before, if she would pull herself together. She said no. And I decided that I didn’t need such a wife. If we are not trying for the sake of our relationship, then we don’t need such a relationship.
