I was the third child in the family. My parents had two other children besides me: a son and a daughter. On the one hand it was not good that I was the third child in the family. Why not? Because they very rarely bought me new clothes and toys. Usually I had to wear all my sister’s things.
But there were a lot of positive things, too. My parents spent all their energy raising my sister and brother. They didn’t even raise me that much. But with me it was much easier. I was a very quiet and calm girl. I could play by myself for hours. I didn’t have any problems with my studies either: I studied by myself, and I didn’t need any help.
I even helped my parents with everything. In general, I was an almost perfect child. But my parents had only one problem with me: I categorically refused to learn how to cook. My mother talked me as much as she could:
– No one will marry you!
– But I’m getting married, not going to the culinary college! – I laughed.
And Daddy said:
– It’s all right, she’ll learn to cook when her husband runs away from her! Then she’ll regret not listening to you!
I graduated from high school and went to college. I studied in another city. My mother was afraid that I would starve to death there, but it didn’t happen. At lunchtime I ate in the institute’s cafeteria. In the morning I drank coffee and ate sandwiches. In the evening I would buy myself something cooked.
I studied and did a little part-time work. I only spent the money I earned on one activity: going to the theater, which I loved very much. It was at the theater that I met Alex. He accidentally pushed me. Alex was rushing his friend backstage to tell him what a great play it was.
When we saw each other with Alex, we immediately fell in love with each other. It was just like a stroke of lightning. Alex was eight years older than me. But that didn’t stop me. We started dating Alex. And then he asked me to move in with him.
– Look, Alex, I want to warn you right off the bat that I can’t cook, and I don’t even want to learn it!
– But I do not invite you as a cook to me! And I myself know how to cook well! – Alex told me.
I laughed and agreed. Together we moved my stuff from the dormitory. In six months we got married. And two years later I gave birth to a son. None of our relatives and friends believed that we were going to live together for a long time. After all, everyone knew that we had Alex cooking. And I never even did the dishes. Even our son’s food was cooked by my husband. All our relatives and acquaintances resented and wondered how we lived with Alex. But we were perfectly happy with all this.
– You should be a normal woman! – My sister scolded me.
– And I do not want to be a woman! I want to be a mother, a wife and a woman. I am quite happy with it! – I answered her with a smile.
And now 20 years have passed. Our son Maxim is already studying at the institute. He lives separately.
And Alex and I live together and are very happy. Although all our acquaintances and relatives are still surprised that we are still together. They claim that I ruined Alex’s life. And I don’t understand: how did I ruin it? The fact that I never once cooked borscht and baked pies? Alex is doing just fine on his own. Because of the preparation of food we never quarreled with him …
