– I don’t go to the store, and the money is there!

Many people now take care of their financial well-being, as having money solves many problems. But not everyone knows how to use their money rationally. What about you?

I think many people try to budget and control their spending. You want to save money, reduce unreasonable losses, put aside some penny. My mother-in-law, on the other hand, does things differently…

She’s a hoarder. Or rather, not like that. She just doesn’t go to the store herself, she asks her children for everything. My in-laws get a good pension and work, but she doesn’t go to the store. Over the years of such a special economy, she has managed to save for a cottage and a car.

I certainly don’t judge her, but she is profiting to our detriment. She has more than enough money, but that doesn’t stop her from complaining.

Just so you understand, her house is worth about $7-8 million. She is gradually fixing it up, taking loans and not saving on appliances. And everyone knows that a private home requires constant investment. And this year my mother-in-law announced that she wanted to expand.

– I do not go to the store and do not spend money. Now everything is getting more expensive,” she says.

We visit her every weekend. Before she comes she calls us and complains that we abandoned her, and she does not even have bread. After this conversation, my mother-in-law sends a list of groceries and household chemicals. We spend about 5,000 rubles per trip, because my relative does not save on food. Her grocery basket is the envy of everyone.

My mother-in-law does something cunning: she offloads her purchases to the children, and saves her own money. As a result, every month she deposits about 50 000 rubles into her bank account. In the summer, she is going to a sanatorium, although she came from Bulgaria a month ago. We can’t even go to the local resort with the kids because of the lack of money.

Probably some of you will judge me and call me mercantile, but I think such economy is wrong. We have a mortgage, loans, two small children, and we still have to carry my mother-in-law. When she comes to visit us, she does not even bring her grandchildren candy. She saves money.

And what do you think, is she doing the right thing or not?
