I couldn’t even imagine giving a ring to my future wife

I grew up in a single-parent family. I was raised by my father and grandmother, and I didn’t even remember my mother. When I turned eighteen, my grandmother gave me a gold ring. She said that my mother dreamed that one day this jewelry would be on my wife’s finger.

But all my relationships ended sooner or later, I was just unlucky in my personal life. Recently, I started to catch myself thinking that I would probably never get married. A few months ago, just before my thirtieth birthday, I decided that I would give my mother’s gift to the first girl I met. Let my mother’s will be fulfilled in this way.

In a flower shop, I bought a bouquet of flowers, took a ring and went in search of my stranger on April Fools’ Day. I was being a little facetious when I said that I met my first woman. Even looking at strange girls, I was looking for someone special. Extremely upset, I sat down on a bench and suddenly saw her. A girl was walking down the street. It was obvious that she was in no hurry, her eyes were so sad. I’m just sure that she was going through some difficult thoughts.

Something inside me felt that this was the girl I was looking for. What was driving me, I don’t know… I gave in to this feeling, stood up and approached the stranger. A little ashamed, I handed her a bouquet with a ring and said: “Excuse me, this is for you.” “Surely you have me confused with someone else?” – the girl said, embarrassed. “No! This is for you. You see…” I began to explain my strange behavior. But the girl did not listen to me, she said: “I can’t accept this.”

But I was not ready to give up so easily. “You see, if you don’t take it, I will throw it into the river. It’s for you!” I persisted. After some hesitation, she agreed, but said she would take it only on one condition. “Tell me the condition,” I said with a smile on my face. “I’ll take it to a pawnshop,” was the girl’s unexpected answer. I felt a wave of disappointment rolling over me. To hide this feeling, I asked, “Why?” “My mom is very sick. I need money for her treatment,” was the explanation the stranger gave me.

In an instant, a plan of action was formed in my mind. “If you don’t mind, I’ll go with you. I’ll hand him over myself, and you can wait,” I offered. A few minutes later we came to the first pawnshop, and I asked how much the ring cost. They offered two and a half thousand. I came out of there and gave the girl the money and the ring. Having done this without further ado, I almost ran away from there… But fate brought us together again. As it turned out, the girl had been going to this park for several days hoping to see me. And when we met, she invited me to her house for tea… That day I could not even imagine that I was giving a ring to my future wife.
