In our office, there is a coworker who we all call a jack-of-all-trades. Until recently, I considered it as a joke, but then I realized that this man has a life that even makes me feel sorry for him. Every time we get together with my colleagues to relax and spend time in a bar or go on a nature hike, he refuses to go with us under different pretexts. And once he even let slip that he did not want to spite his wife, so he does not participate in our collective gatherings.
I want to tell you that this man himself is very hot-tempered, I would even say aggressive. How he manages to bend before his wife is a mystery to me.
Only after a while I realized what the secret is here. Once our leadership on the New Year’s corporate party invited all employees with their wives and husbands. I had the “luck” to sit next to the spouse of the henchman. His wife was even more beautiful, even eyes can not take away.
I had a short conversation with her. She speaks very quietly, and when you listen to her, you drown in the flow of her speeches. She is quite intellectual and is an excellent conversationalist. She easily talked me into helping her spouse hem the ceiling with drywall in the hallway. You have to understand that I was seeing her for the first time in my life, but she talked me into helping with the repairs in less than half an hour. That’s a real talent!
After that, I realized how my colleague felt and how hard it is for him to stand up to his spouse when you need to defend your own point of view. I want to honestly tell you that if I had a wife like that, I would have been a wimp, too.
