The boys rang the doorbell, and when there was no answer they started kicking the door until it finally opened. All three of the family’s dogs came running out! The heroic duo then escorted all of them to safety by leading them through a backyard that connected to a safe street. As soon as Mario and Anthony reached relative safety themselves, they turned back around to see flames coming from every window on the front of the house!

Mario and Anthony have been best friends for years; their moms even used to be pregnant at the same time (but in different years). Now this video is going viral with good reason – it captures an amazing display human kindness paired with animal instinctive behavior.

There is so much goodness in this world and it sometimes comes from the most unexpected places. When two young boys went to their friend’s house to free some dogs that were locked up inside, they probably didn’t expect the homeowner – John Salisbury – to be such a kind and generous person. After communicating with them through the doorbell camera, he gave them the entry code and allowed them to open the door, set three of the dogs free, and go back into his home safely. This story just goes to show that there are still good people out there who will help others when they need it most!

“The dog is safe, the kids are heroes,” Athena DiBenedetto said. “If it wasn’t for them, I don’t know if my dog would have come out alive because she was in there a long time.”
Both boys were commended for their quick thinking and bravery, with Mario earning a special commendation from the police department.
