Our second son was born in our family. From the hospital I met joyful relatives. The faces of grandparents were happy, everyone wished me health, luck and all the best.
And I had one thought in my head – now we’re coming into our cramped one-room apartment, mother-in-law and father-in-law will return to their two-room apartment, my mother and sister – will move into their mansion, and no one even thinks that we in a fifteen-meter room will be, to put it mildly, a little tight.
My husband’s parents have a lovely house in the countryside, a vegetable garden, a river nearby. But they move from town to village and do not react to our requests to exchange the apartments. Only once my mother-in-law told me: “We are of an age, we sleep restlessly, we each have our own room, and in the big room we watch TV and meet guests.
I guess she thinks that the four of us would sleep very peacefully head to head, besides – to the regular crying of the baby...
Mom traded our apartment for two, one of which she gave to her sister. My sister was single, living as if she were living in a two-room apartment, and she also “didn’t notice” our cramped living conditions.
All this went through my head and, probably, was reflected on my face, because the relatives began to actively curtail their congratulatory program and hurried to scatter in different directions.
After saying goodbye, I smiled sadly at my husband: “Well, shall we go home?”
