My mother-in-law and savings are one and the same. She believes that there is no point in buying anything for a newborn baby if the other in-laws have grown children and can give away their clothes. I think you can guess what things look like from the tenth hand. That’s why I don’t need this junk.
At first we lived in a rented apartment, and my mother-in-law stayed out of our way. But then we got our own place, and my mother-in-law took care of our repair. They say, the tiles will be laid by one man, electricians will do the other man – no need to hire anyone.
The quality of these “experts” is terrible, so I do not need such assistants. I have already seen the repair of my mother-in-law. She walks and stumbles on the uneven floor. When I said no, my mother-in-law called me mercantile and accused me of wasting money.
When we wanted to change the furniture, the second act of the performance began. My mother-in-law started calling all the relatives and collecting old sofas, ancient cupboards, and smoked carpets. When she heard her refusal, she said that we would soon go to hell with this approach.
My husband was on my side. And we were earning enough to properly equip our home. We did everything our own way, no matter how indignant the relative was.
I want to say right away that I am not squeamish. My sister often gives me her clothes, but they are high-quality and in good condition. And take anything, just to avoid spending money, I do not want to. I’d rather buy a few quality things for the baby, but they will be comfortable and beautiful.
– Why are you wasting money? We have so many children in our family,” my mother-in-law wailed.
I knew that a lot of clothes were changing hands for the tenth time. When I saw this “dowry,” I realized I could only wash the floor with it. All in stains, patches, holes, no buttons and buttons.
Another relative brought us a crib from her cousin. It didn’t even have sides-she made her husband fix it. And the condition was such that there was not a baby, but a piggy sleeping. We just took this family heirloom to the cottage and bought a normal cradle.
– Look at the rich people! You’re the one who spends money so easily now, and when you’re on maternity leave, you’ll calm down. You should have listened to me, instead of turning your nose up at me, – my mother-in-law could not calm down.
I don’t care whether she is offended or not, because I have the right to take care of the welfare of my child. Even if we have financial difficulties, my parents won’t leave me. We won’t be lost without my in-laws’ dowry.
