Reggie the deaf dog has found her own way of communicating with her human family, by inventing a bark that only they can understand.

The adorable pooch was adopted from a shelter last year and quickly learned how to let her owners know when she needed something or was happy – using a combination of chirps, whines and barks.
Reggie was born deaf, but that doesn’t stop her from charming everyone she meets. When Reggie’s mom is cooking dinner and hears the oven timer go off, she starts barking like a dog to get her attention. Her efforts are successful, and not only does Reggie get a treat but she also wins over her mom’s heart with her adorable antics.
Reggie has cerebral palsy and cannot speak. She uses a wheelchair to get around and is fed through a tube. But that doesn’t mean she can’t communicate her thoughts and feelings – Reggie just does it in her own special way.

Her mother continued, “I was blown away! I had never heard anything like that before…She was trying to tell me something important, and I hadn’t even realized it until then!”
“I love you, Reggie. You’re always so sweet and helpful to your family. Keep up the good work!”
Her bark usually gets our attention, which is what she wants.
