The animal was spotted swimming into the Long Island Sound, in Long Island, New York with a paint can on her head and her chances to make it on shore were growing thin.

But then a hero showed up and saved the day. The dramatic rescue was caught on video.
Floridia tranquilized the deer and loaded it into his truck. He took the animal to a vet, where it was successfully given antibiotics and pain relief medications before being released back into the wild.
Frankie chose the latter option, and started swimming towards the shore with the deer. It was a tiring journey, but Frankie pushed himself to keep going until he finally reached land. The deer was so exhausted that it couldn’t get up, so Frankie had to carry it all the way back home on his own. When he got there, his mom was so happy to see him safe and sound – along with the rescued deer!

Frankie’s quick thinking saved the deer’s life, and she was soon back on shore. The animal seemed exhausted but uninjured, so Frankie helped her to a nearby meadow where she could rest.
He started to sing Simon and Garfunkel’s song “The Sound of Silence” in an attempt to calm the deer down. Surprisingly, it worked! The deer stopped swimming erratically and eventually let Frankie guide her to the shore.

Once they reached dry land, the Good Samaritan helped him put a leash on her and took her back into forest—safe and sound.
We are glad to hear that the deer was brought to safety and we hope she will not cause any more trouble.
