Better to have no grandparents at all than to have to deal with them

My husband and I are sure that my in-laws are not poor people. But they’re always getting poorer. We have been living in a rented apartment all these years, and they don’t even want to help us. How can this be?

When I married Ronald, I knew he came from a rich family. No, don’t think badly of me, I married for love. We did not sit on the necks of his parents and immediately after the wedding we moved to a rented apartment. We worked hard and saved every penny, because we dreamed of having our own square footage.

His parents saw us struggling with poverty, but did nothing. As the years passed, we were no closer to our goal. We didn’t even dare to have children because of that.

One day my husband’s parents once again asked when we were going to give them grandchildren. I told them straight out that we should buy an apartment first. But no one understood my hint, my mother-in-law just smirked.

And then a month later I saw two lines on the test. Getting an abortion would have been stupid. I decided to go straight to my in-laws and ask for money for the down payment. Before that we happily announced the news to them, because we thought that they would at least soften a little.

Yes, they were happy, but they didn’t even think about helping us. My mother-in-law changed her face and said they didn’t have that kind of money. And I know she’s lying. My father-in-law is going to change his car, he wants to buy an SUV. Is that normal?

I immediately told my husband that his parents will not let the child. He won’t have grandparents. It turns out that the car is more important, and let my grandson wander in other people’s apartments. I don’t want any greedy relatives like that.

I’m about to have a baby. I was hoping my in-laws would come to their senses and change their minds. But alas. They don’t even call because they are offended by me.

Hopefully we’ll be able to save up for a mortgage at some point. We’ll manage without relatives – let them bite their throats now. My husband says I’m too opinionated, but I think I’m doing the right thing.

If you don’t want to give money, you won’t see your grandson.
