I was recently at a friend’s birthday party. She set a lavish table, although she previously said that she was not going to spend a lot of money (they say it’s just a birthday, not the anniversary date).
She didn’t invite many guests, only relatives and close friends. One older woman came to visit with her eight-year-old granddaughter.
“I wasn’t going to take it, but I asked for it.” – She tried to justify herself for bringing an uninvited guest.
I don’t understand why you would bring a child to a party where only adults will be there. I don’t know what she was asking for. Can’t you explain to a child? This girl gave me the impression of a very ill-mannered little person. She was always begging for food. Cut the sausage off, or give her a cake.
Diana (my friend) sent the girl away several times:
“Go to the hall, sit quietly, don’t disturb the guests.”
Also, she addressed her grandmother:
– “Helena, keep the child busy so she won’t be bored. Get some books, let her look at pictures.
Until all the guests arrived, we were in the kitchen. We helped Diana make cuts, decorate salads, and just chatted. Then we slowly moved into the living room. Diana remembered that she had forgotten one of the salads in the kitchen. She went to get it, and then we heard a scream:
“Maria, what are you doing? Did you ask permission? Is it possible to do such a thing? Aren’t you ashamed? Helena, come here and see what your granddaughter has done.”
We all tensed up. Became curious, what the girl did. It turned out she took the cake out of the fridge and ate all the flowers from the decor. She ate the cake with her hands or just licked off the creamy flowers – it is unclear. However, her hands were clean, but her mouth was stained with cream.
Helena ran up to the child and slapped a couple of times on the most interesting place. Then she turned to Diana:
“Well, you understand, it’s a child. No big deal. Let’s eat cake, she did not drop it, and just ate the roses. After all, do not throw it in the trash! At home I’ll talk to her about this action.
And that was the end of the educational activities! Grandma put her granddaughter next to her, but Maria did not stop there. She quietly left again.
Soon we heard her screaming from the kitchen again:
“What is it, Maria? This is some kind of nightmare!”
A friend walks in and shows us the salad she was still going to bring from the kitchen that time. Maria has forged all the croutons out of it. It’s worth noting that she did this “job” with her hands.
Diana turned to her grandmother:
“Helena, call her parents, let them take the child home. And tell them to buy a new cake on the way.
The woman took offense and never let her granddaughter leave her side again. Then her son arrived and the two of them left the party. They brought a new cake. That’s why children are so rude?
