Emily got on the bus at the bus stop, as she was supposed to. There was only one seat on the bus, next to a man who looked slightly older than her. The girl did not pay much attention to her companion at first. She had seven hours to go to her parents, and there were a lot of different problems that needed to be solved urgently in her head.
Emily was comfortably seated and the bus started. After a couple of minutes her nose began to catch a light aroma of musk and strongly roasted coffee. The scent was so pleasantly bitter that memories immediately began to surface in the girl’s mind.
Summer, heat, she was 17 years old, her favorite boyfriend Robert next to her, who smelled exactly the same. They were lying on the grass by the river, kissing, the starry sky overhead, and Robert whispered in her ear every now and then that they would always be together, that he would never leave her. He was her first love – strong, passionate. She loved him so much that she was ready to give up even her studies, on his future, just to be near.
But fate separated them. Robert went into the army and never returned to her – he found a girl there in the city and got married. And Emily was left with a broken heart. She didn’t date any more guys, still loved Robert despite his betrayal even after ten years.
For a second Emily turned her head and looked at her companion sitting next to her. What? No way! Brunette, blue eyes, refined nose and plump lips, tall. This guy looked so much like Robert that Emily’s heart even began to race.
-Excuse me, isn’t your name Robert by any chance? -Shyly turned to the guy.
-No, I’m Jason. – Turning his head, the guy replied with a big smile on Emily’s face. He looked exactly like the one whose image she carried in her heart up to now. -Girl, what’s your name?
-I, I… -Emily was speechless for a few seconds. Then she pulled herself together and answered. – I’m Emily, nice to meet you.
-And it’s really nice to meet you. Emily, you look so much like the same girl. -Smiled again, Jason said.
-Yes? -Which one?
-My love, my first love, of course. She and I broke up unkindly. She found another guy and I haven’t been able to get her out of my mind for 10 years. And here you are, meeting like this. I still can’t believe it. -Jason spoke with such sincerity, and you could tell from his slightly flushed face that his blood pressure even went up. Probably from the memories.
-Astonishing. I have exactly the same story as you. You also look like my first love, which I had 10 years ago. I keep thinking, does it really happen?
-You know what, Emily? Let’s exchange numbers and try to communicate?
-Let’s do it.
The young people started chatting. But how would their story end? Maybe fate has given them a second chance, albeit with other people who are so similar to their exes. After all, there are no coincidences, are there?
