The caller was Tiffany’s supervisor, and she explained the situation to him. Her boss told her that if the cat appeared to be in danger, she should take it into the shelter. Upon inspection, Tiffany noticed that there were no other cats around and that the animal didn’t seem too friendly; so instead of attempting to capture it, she called 911.

Police responded quickly but were also unable to catch or contain the cat. With nightfall approaching and below-freezing temperatures forecasted overnight, officers suggested securing a temporary kennel for it at an area pet store until they could return in daylight with a trap. The Michigan Humane Society agreed to foot the bill for supplies and boarding fees incurred as a result of this rescue mission–$500 worth!
After taking the kitten back to her apartment, Tiffany set up a warm space for it near one of the radiators. She also got it some food and water, and after doing some research online she learned how to care for a newborn cat.
A few days later, when the kitten had warmed up and become more active, Tiffany took him to a local animal shelter so that he could be properly vaccinated and find a new home.

So don’t worry if you are feeling lonely this Valentine’s season, because love is definitely all around. From the adorable kittens up for adoption at your local shelter to the new pet you just brought home, there’s plenty of love to go around!
