The vets at the Humane Society of Silicon Valley did their best to provide medical care for the kitten, but they were unsure of how she would adjust to life without her ears and tail. Amazingly, despite everything she had been through, the little kitten purred and rubbed up against those who cared for her. She was eventually adopted by a loving family who renamed her Lucky.

Due to all that she has been through, Lucky is understandably skittish around loud noises or sudden movements. However, with love and patience from her adoptive family, she is slowly starting to overcome her fears. As it becomes clear just how resilient Lucky truly is, we can only hope that more animals in need will find their own “Lucky” homes someday soon.

As Karma gradually started to get used to the people around her, she allowed some of them to pet her. She still behaved cautiously around others, however. It was clear that this kitten had been through a lot and needed time to heal emotionally as well as physically. The Humane Society personnel kept providing food and water for Karma, alongside with plenty of love and care until she finally began adjusting completely.

The second thing they had to do was make Karma forget about the traumatic event. This process took a while, but eventually she was able to move on with her life and not dwell on what happened.

Now, Karma is an indoor cat that loves spending lazy afternoons playing with her toys and getting lots of love from her foster mom.

This happy tale is proof that good things come to those who wait!

If you’re able to, please consider donating to Karma’s recovery fund.
