This cat has been seen in different parts of the train. The photos that have surfaced on Twitter are from November and December, but there’s no telling when this adorable habit started. People love taking pictures with him, as you can see below!
The kitten, a Siamese mix named Konekone (Japanese for “connecting”), was born in early December 2013 inside the train station of Seibu Chichibu, which is located about an hour and a half from central Tokyo. When he was just two weeks old, workers at the station found him and took him to an animal shelter. Fortunately for all of us, someone working at that particular animal shelter happened to be friends with Yoko Nozaki, who works as an administrator at one of the busiest stations on Tokyo’s Metro subway system.
Nozaki quickly arranged to have Konekone transferred to her care so she could take him back home to Ikebukuro Station – where he has spent most of his time since then playing around on the trains and within the station itself (including napping in some very convenient places). The story made headlines last year after photos surfaced online showing off Japan’s newest metro celebrity; however, given that it is now over six months later there is no doubt whatsoever that this little guy STILL holds reign as top pup when it comes railways!
The feline passenger is a mysterious figure to many of the commuters on board. Judging from its well-groomed coat and serene demeanor, it seems to be someone’s pet. But there’s no owner in sight, which makes some people wonder if the cat may have been abandoned or is simply traveling solo. While some passengers are entertained by the animal’s presence, others find him or her disruptive and meowing for food or attention constantly.
This commuting kitty is often seen taking the train from his home in Shinjuku to Ikebukuro, Tokyo. His human companion even snaps a photo of him every day so that they can track his progress.
Though he’s usually quiet and well-behaved on the ride, there was one time when another passenger got scared because she thought he might attack her. Thankfully, it appears this furry commuter is just like any other Japanesetraveling with their pet in a carrier–except for one small difference!
