My friend Kate can’t get along in life. She went to college after ninth grade, dropped out after the first semester and went back to school, then she only made it to second year at university, and when distance learning started, she quit. She was beautiful, but instead of directing her beauty in the right direction and trying to achieve something in acting or become a model at least on Instagram, she registered on a dating site with foreigners, and now she travels abroad to all kinds of men. She gave birth to a son by one of them, the man financially helps her, but Kate does not call for marriage.
Kate tells me this herself, but always in some positive way. She’s happy with her life, she’s fine with it. But her mother isn’t. When I go to their house and Kate isn’t there, her mother starts talking dirty about her daughter, calling her a girl of easy virtue and a terrible mother. And I see that the three-year-old boy is delighted with his mother, and Kate also manages to take him to different countries on her own.
My aunt can’t stand her daughter, but she thinks I’m the perfect daughter, because I graduated from university and I’m in the office five days a week. The woman often praises me in front of Kate, takes care of me, gives me all kinds of goodies, but my friend doesn’t seem to care about that. She lives her life, she has money, she has a kid, and she’s perfectly happy. I only feel uncomfortable that my aunt ignores her daughter’s happiness and tries to make her look bad in front of me. Or is it like that for all mothers-other people’s daughters are always better than their own?
