With my husband, we somehow avoided the topic of children. At the beginning of our relationship, we agreed that we should not even think about it until we were thirty, until we had our own apartment and stability. Who knew that by twenty-five we would be lucky to live in our own apartment, which my husband inherited after the death of his beloved grandfather, who bequeathed everything to his grandson, and that everything would be more or less stable with work, and that I myself would want a baby before I was thirty?
I was afraid to talk to my husband about it, so I tried to find out his position by hinting, and at first glance he was not against having a baby. A friend helped me to check his willingness to do that. It so happened that she had an urgent need to go to the cottage to visit her sick mother, and she did not want to drag the children. One was four and the other two. She asked me to watch them until Sunday, and I gladly agreed.
My husband was excited at first, too. He didn’t get along so well with the kids and was exhausted by Friday, but he was still going strong. This gave me hope for the upcoming conversation about my own children. I wanted to bring it up on Sunday, when my friend picked up the kids. Unfortunately, she wasn’t having any luck. She couldn’t warn me right away because of the terrible connection, and my husband panicked right away.
– She abandoned her children on us! She’s a single mother, she had nowhere else to put them, so she dumped them on us, didn’t she? She doesn’t expect us to raise them for her, does she? I’m not ready for kids!
A friend took them already on Monday, but my husband asked her very much not to stay late when she promises to be on Sunday, and in general not to leave them for other people’s children, as it is “inconvenient”.
I realize that it’s too early to bring up the subject of kids, but I wonder… will he ever be ready for kids? What if I’m just wasting my time and when we’re thirty he still won’t want to have kids? And the biological clock is ticking.
