My Mark tries to be a friend to everyone but himself and his family. He may cheat on me, he may deprive the kids, he may borrow money from my mom, but not for us or even for himself, but for other people. We live rather poorly ourselves. I work at the dry cleaners, or as a waitress in a cafe, and in between I take my child to kindergarten, while Mark is a loser realtor who rents out apartments. But he always has bad luck with either the landlords or the clients – who will cheat on the money, who will steal the apartment and then pay compensation to him … Thankfully, at least we got his apartment from his grandmother and Mark is not a “cobbler without boots”, but it does not make my life easier.
When my husband has good days, he either drinks all of his money with his friends or gives it away to those friends. What angers me the most is that he has an elderly neighbor as a friend. He’s retired, does nothing but sit at home and give orders to Mark to clean his windows, buy him groceries, take him to the hospital. It’s like we have a second child with wrinkles. Sometimes Mark wants to buy him groceries himself. That is, we can’t buy candy or strawberries for a five-year-old child, because Mark then doesn’t have enough to buy his grandfather porridge, bread, and milk on top.
– His pension is pennies, you know.
– So let his relatives help him. He’s always talking about grown-up grandchildren, so let them help…
But Mark just waving his hand, saying that I do not understand, and in general, I am selfish, I do not think about anyone. But I am! We have a child growing up, soon to go to school, and only I have to save for school uniforms and other things, because Mark will help his neighbors. Mother Teresa! And you can’t change his mind or open your eyes to the fact that people are using him.
I think you have to provide for yourself and your family first, and then you can think about others. We shouldn’t give every penny to others and still be poor.
