My mother is 72 years old, we live separately, but in the same city. Like any elderly person, she needs help, but I can’t take her with me for a certain reason – she is an avid cat and dog lover, keeps a bunch of animals in her apartment, and even feeds all the strays in the neighborhood.
All the money I give her for food and medicine, she spends on the animals. So lately I have been bringing her the necessary things and food myself, because her pension, of course, she does not have enough money for anything. Recently, my husband and I were returning from a visit on the subway, and left the car with friends. And can you imagine – on exit we see my mother, who sits with his hand outstretched and asking for alms.
I was almost ashamed, my husband was also shocked, he knows that I regularly take money from the family budget for my mother. And then such a picture and immediately begs the question – where do I spend it, if my mother sits and beggars. It turned out that Mom was asking passersby for money for her dogs and cats, which need to be fed, treated and spayed.
This seems like a good thing, but what will our friends who see her say? What will they think of my husband and me for abandoning the old mother to her fate and driving her to the porch? But I’m not going to pay for her countless stray pets either-not the same income, sorry, not Madonna. So now I walk the streets, looking around to see if my mother is sitting somewhere-I’m sure she hasn’t stopped asking for alms, only she’s hiding better from me now.
