Adam came home earlier than usual today; the clock was only half past one. He did not understand the eyes looked at how the wife dressed their sleepy little girl, and next to his mother stood pouting son.
-Where are you going in the middle of the night? Where are you taking the kids?
-I decided to leave you, I can’t stand it anymore. – Monica looked into her husband’s eyes and thought about how much she had loved him before.
-The main thing is that you hurry up and leave! -Adam began to shout at his wife, while not paying attention to the fact that his shouting had frightened the children. – Who needs you with such a trailer. Stuffed idiot!
-We’ll see, said the wife and left the house.
The first year of their life together Monica lived like in heaven. She was literally glowing with happiness, because she had a handsome and successful husband, who literally carried her in his arms.
– Well, you will suffer more with this handsome man – said her mother sometimes, but Monica did not listen to her and always told her parents that their family is not threatened by treason, as they love each other very much.
However, one day Monica’s world shattered into a million pieces, she then learned that her husband had a mistress. After the birth of a son new problems began in the home of the spouses, and resentment did not leave her soul. At one time she even began to think that Adam
had put all the nonsense out of his mind, as peace and quiet returned to the family. All seemed well, except that her husband was often away on business trips. Monica comforted herself by saying that it was only thanks to her husband’s work their family was well off and did not need anything.
After Monica had her daughter, her husband’s business trips became longer and more frequent. There was no point in asking Adam anything, since he answered all her questions by saying it would be better for her to take care of the children and not to get silly things into her head.
Monica sensed that her husband had a mistress. She drove such thoughts away as best she could, especially since there was no way she could change the situation that had arisen, and to leave her husband with two children in his arms was the craziest thing. She wouldn’t tell him anything, not even when she heard him scent another woman’s perfume and when she heard him cooing on the phone with someone else in the other room. One morning he called her Rebecca and didn’t even pay attention.
A tiny apartment, a penny salary – she knew she was very lucky to be hired, since she had no work experience. Monica lived on automatic because she had to! She barely had enough energy for her daughter and son, and she had given up on her own life long ago. However, she was confused at the moment when someone placed a beautiful bouquet on her cash register.
-It’s for you! I so want you to smile. Maybe a bouquet of flowers will cheer you up at least a little bit, – embarrassedly said a man of about thirty-five.
This man was their regular customer. He always bought the same thing: sausage, sauce, coffee, bread, and dumplings.
-I’m Robert! Your shift is almost over now, let me walk you home.
It took Monica a long time to accept Robert’s advances, because she didn’t believe that a man could be serious about a mother of two children. She knew that even her own father did not want the children, since he had not called them once in the past year, and now a stranger. Her nerves gave out, and she said:
– You understand, I have two children!
– Great, so this weekend I’m planning a trip to the zoo. – replied the guy.
Monica was confused and didn’t know what to answer. She could not believe that a strange man could be so happy to play with her kids. He was the one who taught her son to play checkers and her daughter to ski. He would get up at night and run to the drugstore if her children were sick. She wanted to end her relationship with him, but he told her back:
– Do you really think I could lose such a lucrative party? Will you become my wife?
Monica has been married to Robert for more than five years. In time they have had two more babies, and all their neighbors and acquaintances claim that all their children look very much like their father!
– You know, they are really starting to all look like you! Maybe it’s because you love them so much.
– Of course honey, I love them all very much, because they are your continuation!
