Helena knew for sure that she would never live with her husband’s parents. Robert proposed to her, but accidentally mentioned the apartment issue:
– Helena , but it’s a hundred times cheaper to live with your parents! Why pay for a rented apartment when you can save a lot of money? – the guy was perplexed.
– And when the kids go, it’s good that mom will help. You’ll be able to go to work earlier, – he persuaded.
– It’s out of the question! – Helena shouted. – I want to be a complete mistress in the apartment. Especially since we have different vision of life, different daily routine, different eating habits. No, only separately!
Robert agreed, and they celebrated the wedding. Helena chose all the trappings to her liking and invited only those closest to her. Robert, on the other hand, invited whoever he wanted to impress or to put under his belt.
The groom’s mother often let off barbs in the bride’s direction, but did it as if in jest. She hinted at Helena being overweight and at her bad temper. Helena found the toast offensive:
– My son certainly never knew how to pick girls,” the woman said.
“A very good start,” thought the bride.
– Helena is good, of course, but she is very stubborn! Since you refused to live with us, then give you a multicooker! Although I would rather give a normal cook, so that my son did not get an ulcer.
The mother-in-law was pleased with her “sparkling” humor, but Helena was offended and once again convinced of the correctness of her decision. The newlyweds enjoyed family life. Their two salaries were enough to pay their utility bills and live a full life. Suddenly, Helena
fell ill and fell ill for two weeks. It turned out that the division of duties was an illusion. Once Helena stopped doing her part, it became clear that Robert wasn’t doing anything at all.
The guy reasoned that he was making money:
– Not only do I work, but I have to make a “second shift” for myself at home? – he shouted.
– Let me tell you a secret: most women live like this and nothing! I can’t wait to get better! – Helena lamented.
Robert soon told her about the impending layoffs at work.
– Even if you go to work tomorrow, you will get your salary in a month. By the time I find a new job we’ll be kicked out of here like lousy kittens, – said the boy. – The only option is to live with my parents. We have no other choice!
– Of course there is! Instead of getting a part-time job, you just quit your old job, too! You did a very good job on that one! Like a real man! – Helena got angry.
– If you hadn’t sat at home like a clown, everything would have been all right! I married a healthy girl, not us old wretches,” answered Robert.
– There are hardships in life. It’s good that we do not have a child, because such a father would have snapped at him.
Helena divorced Robert and sent her ex-husband with his belongings to his mother. The girl recovered and went to work, while her best friend helped her in the household.
– What men are now, a nightmare! They will be around only under certain conditions, – reasoned her friend.
– And imagine if I agreed to live with his family! My mother-in-law would have kicked my ass with her nagging!
Helena invited her friend to live in the apartment, because she, too, was looking for inexpensive housing. At least this man had already been tested repeatedly to overcome the kind of unpleasantness that men can’t endure.
