I have a friend who constantly indulges her husband. She runs from work to get groceries and make meals at the market. She doesn’t go out with us because her husband won’t let her. It used to seem ridiculous, but now it’s even bothersome. Every excuse we offer: her husband does not let her go, or we have to go to the cottage, or to visit his parents, or somewhere else they are going.
But another surprising thing: she is by nature a girl with a character, ambitious, will not give himself offended, and to manage themselves, too. What is going on in the family of a friend?
At the New Year’s Eve corporate party invited all the employees with their halves. When my Laura and her husband walked into the smart hall with tables set for four, I realized in an instant why she was indulging him in everything. To say that he was handsome – nothing to say, because the standard description: tall, athletic, face from the ads, I must add: there was something about him that made the heads of all present turn for him, as sunflowers for the sun. My girlfriend, needless to say, was just like him, and the couple looked stunning. They made their way to my table. I was sitting with a colleague, we are both still in search of his mate, so we were glad that at least one gentleman will be in our company.
And just imagine, this “something” that attracted people to him, in such concentration is next to you and turns to you, the man’s eyes warmly look at you and you have already unwittingly begin to creep into a cloud of dreams. The velvet of the voice envelops your consciousness, and you do not notice that you are already promising him something fervently in response to some request, and only Laura’s clarifying question took me out of the trance.
It turns out that I had already promised to babysit their three-year-old daughter while they go to their sister’s wedding in another city for two days, and they would be troublesome with a child, and not at all. Yeah, here we go. And I also judged my friend...
After the New Year we hurried Laura on her own, sometimes helping her to cope with the whirlwind of family life, and not giving her husband a reason to reproach her for anything. Who in his senses would refuse such a thing?
