Recently my spouse has been bugging me again about his mother wanting to come and visit us. I said no. I did not want my mother-in-law to come and visit us. I had enough of her coming to visit us for the first time in the six years we had been together. The last time my spouse’s mother came to visit us with her sister. Now my answer is only negative.
– You can take our daughter and go visit your mother with her. You can rent mother a hotel, I won’t say a word against you.
However, my parent is determined to come to us, and she is not going to stay in a hotel, nor does she want to take her son and granddaughter to her house. Why is she so insistent about coming to our apartment? My husband grew up in Krasnodar Krai. I met him while he was studying in the capital. Before he married me he rented a place with his friends, and when we got married he moved in with me.
The apartment that he and I live in was bought by my parents about ten years ago. The apartment is in my name, so I am the sole owner.
The mother of the spouse is not a poor person and if she wanted to, she could without much effort to help her son buy his own place in the capital, but she does not want to do so, as he always refers to the fact that in a divorce, greedy wife to undress the son’s underwear, and so let my son to live in primahiv. In contrast to my husband, sister-in-law dances to her mother’s tune, she even fictitiously divorced her husband to mommy help her with the purchase of housing.
My husband’s sister lives in St. Petersburg, and now she is on maternity leave, and her ex-husband successfully pays their mortgage and alimony. This is the state of affairs my mother-in-law is completely satisfied with. My spouse’s mother-in-law suggested that we get a fictitious divorce a year after we were married, but I said no at the time:
– If we divorce now, it’s for good. If we file for divorce, you pack your bags that very day and go straight into your new bachelor life.
For this reason, the option of buying an apartment for my son didn’t work out. I never went to my mother-in-law’s house. And after all her scheming with the apartment, I didn’t really want it. And then she came to us in person in three years.
– I wanted at least once granddaughter to see, and I can not understand the photo, who this girl looks like.
There was no way out, so I agreed. No one bothered to tell me that my husband’s mother had brought her little sister with her. It seemed to me that the sisters had decided to do a full-scale resemblance study. That’s why mommy brought her support group with her. However, our little girl – an exact copy of her daddy, there is no shaking it, that grudgingly had to admit both relatives of the spouse.
I prepared a room for the guests, they put their things there, played with their granddaughter, received gifts, and then my husband and I invited them to the table. When all settled in their seats and the circus began.
– Why didn’t you bake cakes? – my mother-in-law asked me in a stern voice.
– And you stayed hungry? – I answered.
I baked the chicken in the oven, made meatballs, made three salads, made cheese and sausage cuts, chopped the baked pork brought back by mommy, fruit, and a cake. Why the question about the cakes arose, I still don’t understand.
– I’m just saying…
After dinner, the parent is again turned on:
– The son knows very well what his mother likes. I think he told you everything.
At this point I remembered that my spouse once told me that in their family the dishes of by-products came first: pancakes and pies with liver, liver patties and cakes. However, I have never made it and am not going to make it, as I am sick of the smell of raw liver.
The next morning my spouse decided to take the guests out, and I was busy making dinner. I then made: puff pastry envelopes with cheese and ham and braised cabbage. I decided then that if you wanted pies, you’d have to have them.
– Not with liver! Why didn’t you make them?
I explained to my relative that I didn’t bring the smell of by-products. When my mother sat down to eat soup the next day, she even skewed:
– Is the soup even with giblets? No with meat! – she said grudgingly.
I gave up my nerves and I took my daughter and went to her mother. I returned only in the evening. Then my husband and I had our first quarrel. Then during a video conference call I heard my mother-in-law talking:
– My daughter takes well to her mother, she always cooks what I like, and my daughter-in-law is completely inhospitable.
After that I told my husband that his mother would never set foot in my house again. My husband’s mother waited three years, and now she’s coming to visit us again. But I told him that I would not let her on the doorstep, and if she came, he would pack his things and leave with her.
