I want to tell you about a problem that I have faced. The problem is my mother. I’m 25 years old, and I’m not married yet. But I have a fiancé. Mark is a great guy and we have been dating for a long time. Recently we even started talking to Mark about getting married. I am very happy.
The only thing that upsets me is my mother! She upsets me by categorically not wanting to change her appearance. I understand that to lose weight is not easy. But you can get a nice haircut and manicure. It is not hard to do.
My mom lives alone. I’ve been on my own for a long time. Mom gets a pension, but she also works part-time. So my mom has no problems with money. But she categorically refuses to change her appearance.
I remember how ashamed I was of my mother in front of my classmates and girlfriends. They all had such well-groomed mothers: with hair, manicures, and heels. My mom never even had any makeup on. She was always walking around with a bob. She wasn’t interested.
And then the other day we ran into Mark’s parents at the supermarket.
I turned away for a second and then I saw some beautiful young woman walk up to Mark and take him under her arm. The woman looked about 35 years old. I looked at this woman with surprise. And then Mark says to me:
– Meet my mother!
It was a real surprise to me. Mark’s mom turned out to be a very nice and interesting woman. She is also very well-groomed and beautiful. You could see that she takes care of herself. I also liked Mark’s father.
And then I asked Mark:
– When did your mother give birth to you? Was she 15? She’s so young!
– No, she’s not! She’s 57 years old!
I just went numb with amazement when I heard that. Mark’s mother is even younger than my mother, but she looks like her daughter.
So now I’m afraid to introduce Mark and his parents to my mom. What will they think of me when they see my mom? I’m afraid Mark might even change his mind about marrying me. After all, they say that if you want to know what your wife will be like in her old age, you have to look at her mother.
I, of course, will never be like that. But what am I going to do with my mother now? I just don’t know! I love her very much. But I don’t understand how you can treat yourself like that! My mom has a tooth problem. Her front tooth is all blackened and broken off, and she doesn’t want to go to the doctor.
I tell her:
– How am I going to introduce you to my fiancé? You’ll scare him!
– And I will not smile, and he will not notice anything! – My mother answers me.
I just do not know what to do with it. Well I can not take her by the hand and pull her by force to the dentist or a beauty salon! That’s how can I be?
