I got married three years ago. My husband and I live well, but my mother-in-law still does not give up hope that her beloved son Max will leave me and come back to her. I don’t know what to do with my mother-in-law anymore.
It all started five years ago, when I first met Max. We were still at university then, and we were each living with our parents.
Six months after we met, I introduced Max to my parents and my brother. But Max didn’t introduce me to his family for a year. Then I realized why he was doing that. It was because Max had a very peculiar mother. She didn’t like me right away.
When we told my future mother-in-law that we wanted to rent an apartment and live together, she started a scandal. She said that her son didn’t know how to do anything, that he was still small. And after all, Max was already 23 years old. But of course we rented an apartment anyway.
Every day my mother-in-law wrote me messages about what I should do and how I should do it. She demanded that I even peel Max’s oranges.
– Otherwise he wouldn’t eat them!
And I told her that Max was doing just fine on his own. One day we went to visit my mother-in-law. And she made a scene because Max was only wearing a sweater. She scolded me for not watching him and not taking care of Max.
– It’s freezing outside now, isn’t it? Already all the people wear jackets!
And in fact, no one has ever walked outside in a jacket. But it got even worse when Max and I decided to get married. My mother-in-law started inviting her friends’ daughters to her house and introducing them to Max.
Then Max stopped visiting his mother altogether. But my mother-in-law did not give up. She started coming to visit us. She constantly scolded me for not cooking and cleaning the apartment poorly. Although in fact it is not.
But it got even worse the week before the wedding. My mother-in-law had a huge scandal. She berated me for what I chose an ugly dress and that the menu at the restaurant chose terrible.
– You’re going to embarrass us in front of people! – Scolded me mother-in-law.
I got very angry and kicked my future mother-in-law out. An hour later she called Max and said that she was sick, that she was having a heart attack. Max called a cab and rushed to his mother’s house. But it turned out that she had made the whole thing up. Max got mad, and they had a big fight.
So we ended up having a wedding that Max’s mother didn’t even attend. And then I had my daughter. We named the baby Elizabeth. . And my mother-in-law never came to see my granddaughter. She claims that she’s not her granddaughter at all and that I faked the baby. That’s why I don’t communicate with my mother-in-law at all. I don’t want to get nervous and worry because of this inadequate woman who is my mother-in-law.
