My mother took offense at me when I refused to take part in rolling up vegetables and compotes.

I had promised myself for years that I would not take part in can-rolling. But every year I broke my promise. This year I pulled myself together, and when my mother asked me to help, I immediately told her no. And my mom was very offended at me for that, and now she doesn’t answer my phone calls at all.

My grandmother used to make a huge supply of cans all the time. She used to roll both vegetables and fruit. But I understand that. My grandmother had two daughters and a son. On top of that, my grandmother also had two brothers. All came and helped grandmother to make a huge stock of pickles, jams and compotes. But back then there were a lot of people and it was impossible to buy anything in the store. That’s why all the stuff was eaten.

My mother also made a lot of preserves. They helped us a lot in the nineties. We just survived on canned food. We boiled pasta, opened cucumbers or tomatoes, and there we had dinner. Now there are no such problems, but my mother can not give up the habit, and continues to make a huge amount of hardened foods.

And we do not really like casseroles. My husband has stomach problems and that’s why he doesn’t eat this kind of food. And my daughter just doesn’t like it. Well, I just can’t handle that many tomatoes and cucumbers. I have already handed out mom’s rolled up to friends and colleagues, but no one wants to take them anymore. But it’s just impossible to stop my mom.

I have tried to convince her that there is no need to close so many, but my mom doesn’t understand me and she doesn’t hear me. She got really mad at me when I told her that I wasn’t going to be a part of this anymore. And now she won’t even return my phone calls. I just don’t know what to do now.
