I’m in a very difficult situation. Here’s what happened. For almost a whole month now, my mom has been walking around very sad. She’s never in the mood. She shows no interest: neither in me, nor in her beloved grandchildren. Of course, I began to worry about my mother very much.
I began to ask her:
– What’s wrong, Mom?
She says:
– Nothing, everything is fine!
And she herself had high blood pressure and severe heart pains. I had to call an ambulance three times in the last two weeks.
– Mom, what’s wrong? Tell me the truth! – I demanded of my mother.
And she finally admitted to me that it turns out she took out a lot of credit. And now she gets calls from the banks and demand a loan repayment. And she has no money to pay the loans.
– How much money did you take, Mom?
– Oh, honey, a lot! As much as three hundred thousand!
– And what did you spend such a huge amount?
– No reason, I spent it on life! – said my mother.
I would have understood if mom had bought something big: some of the appliances, furniture, and made repairs in the apartment. But as it is, I don’t know where the money went. It turns out that my mom first took out a small loan, and then she couldn’t pay it back on time. That’s why she took out a loan elsewhere, and took out loans for a huge amount.
I don’t work. My husband and I have two children. Our oldest daughter is 8 years old and our son is 4 years old. I have no need to go out to work. Egor does a great job providing for our family.
We live in Ronald’s apartment. We don’t pay the mortgage, so we often go on vacation to the sea and buy ourselves good phones. And, of course, we eat and dress very well. And recently Ronald even bought a new car. Ronald doesn’t spare any money for household needs. I’ve always been good with money. I don’t buy unnecessary things and try to save money. I really like to cook, and it saves our family budget a lot.
My mother, on the other hand, is very different. I remember my dad always scolding her for not spending her money properly. Mom was always borrowing money and then having a hard time giving it back. Sometimes I would give her 10-15 thousand to pay off her debts. When my mother borrowed a lot of money, she felt very bad about it. But she kept doing it anyway. She scolded herself for it:
– What was I thinking? I knew I didn’t have to do that!
I try to help my mom as much as I can. I pay her rent, and I often buy her groceries and medicine. Ronald knows about it and he doesn’t mind that I help my mother in this way. Ronald doesn’t help his parents because they are fine with money: my husband’s parents don’t need it. But when I asked my husband to help my mom pay off her loans, he flatly refused.
– Your mother took out the loans herself. Now let her pay them off herself! – My husband told me.
And I just do not know how I can help my mom. I do not have that kind of money. I’m very worried that her blood pressure can get very high and she can have a stroke, and then we will have other problems.
How can I convince my husband that we need to help my mom?
