As we can see in the pictures, the dog was found completely skeletonized and dying. In the middle of December winter, she was alone and living in the ruins. The rescuers found her with three other dogs, apparently her siblings. She was named Arnia and was emaciated and malnourished. They were all rescued as a matter of extreme urgency, due to their alarming signs of neglect. Howl Of A Dog rescuers said they were horrified and heartbroken to see her. She could only wag her little tail, which they interpreted as a sign of absolute mercy.

Although her poor condition was evident and she had almost no strength, the skeletal dog got to her feet as best she could when she saw the rescuers. Her goal was not to wait for them to help her; her effort was due to the fact that she wanted to warn the other dogs that some angels had arrived to help them. Of that pack, two more were females, whom they named Alma and Anuka. The rescuers were smitten with the siblings, they were very docile and tender, so it was very easy to take them to the shelter.

When they arrived at the shelter, Arnia changed completely, it was noticeable that she had not been eating and sleeping well for a long time, so that was the first thing she did. The veterinary checkup they gave her showed that she was very malnourished, she weighed only six kilos. This was very little for her age (between 2 and 3 years old).

A month after the rescue, the dog was already running around the garden and very recovered. She even overcame a reported trauma to her front paws. Precisely, her rescuer gave her this name because it has a very special background: “Arnia means as strong as an eagle and that is exactly how this sweet warrior turned out to be”.
