– I think you need to see a doctor! Maybe you’re sick with something and that’s why you can’t get pregnant.

Michael and I were married for exactly one year. We lived with him just fine. And then one day we went to visit my mother-in-law, and she was singing the song about wanting grandchildren again, she just can’t wait.

– Don’t put it off long enough!
– We won’t! You will have grandchildren! – Michael promised his mom.

When we got home, Michael started talking about why I couldn’t get pregnant.

– I think you need to see a doctor! Maybe you’re sick with something and that’s why you can’t get pregnant? – Michael told me.

I promised him that I would go to the gynecologist. And I kept my promise. I had more than one test, visited many doctors and they all gave me the same diagnosis: completely healthy.

It took me a whole year. It was a very difficult year. A year full of tears, resentment and misunderstanding. Michael was constantly angry and unhappy. Lately he started yelling at me a lot. And then one day I could not stand it and said:

– Can you stop blaming me for the fact that we have no children? All the doctors said that I was perfectly healthy. I think it’s time for you to be examined too!
– I’m perfectly healthy, but if you insist, I’ll go to the doctor, too.

A few days later Michael and I went to the doctor. We took some tests, Michael was examined, and a few days later we found out the truth. It turned out that Michael was the one who had the problem, and it was his fault that we still had no children.

For a few days Michael and I didn’t even talk to each other. And then I couldn’t stand it anymore and said:

– Michael, isn’t there something you want to say to me? Don’t you want to apologize?
– Why should I apologize? I’m the one who’s sick, and you’re perfectly healthy!
– And the fact that you spent a year blaming me that it’s my fault we don’t have children – doesn’t that count? That I endlessly sent me to different doctors, and I passed endless tests? Is that normal?

Michael didn’t say anything back to me. He just turned around and left. I cried. I felt so hurt that I had gone through so much this year. Soon Michael came back. He bought me a large bouquet of my favorite white lilies, a cake and champagne. He hugged me and said:

– Forgive me, darling. I’m sorry for everything! I know I was wrong. But I will heal. Everything’s going to be all right! We’re gonna have a baby! We’re gonna make it!
– Of course we’re gonna make it! After all, we are together! – I reassured my beloved husband and hugged him tightly.
