My mother-in-law and sister-in-law couldn’t wait until it was warm enough to go to our dacha. To our dacha. But nobody called them there, and my husband and I have no desire to see them there. Last year they sold the dacha because it was in a dilapidated state, my husband had to pay my mother and sister their shares, and now we have put it in order, renovated the house and my relatives want to rest there. Now, now, yeah.
My husband and I dream of our own house, but we don’t have the money for it yet. But last year we managed to buy a cottage. Bought from my mother-in-law, who did not go there and was completely uninterested in it.
– I have already counted on this money, and besides Oksana is on maternity leave now, she will need the money too. So if you want, you should buy it, but if you don’t want to, we’ll sell the dacha and divide the money between the three of us, – said my mother-in-law at the time. My husband and I took a loan and bought it.
At that time I was angry that my mother-in-law was pulling money from her own son, because she could have just let him have the dacha, but now I realize that it was very good that we paid for it and re-registered it. Now, according to the documents, neither my mother-in-law nor my sister-in-law have anything to do with the cottage.
The cottage was built by my husband’s grandfather. It was two floors, made of brick, with a veranda, but since no one took care of the cottage for a long time, it fell into disrepair. The roof leaked, the veranda rotted in some places, in the house a lot of garbage, which was thrown there for decades. Yes, and the site itself is overgrown to the point that I can not even believe that there was something planted.
We bought it last summer. My husband only found out that their family had a dacha when my mother-in-law talked about selling it. He and his sister never went there because my mother-in-law hated working on the garden and generally lived without the amenities of civilization, and my father rarely had free time to put everything in order. He only went out to bring in the next batch of junk.
We rolled up our sleeves, stocked up on patience and began to tidy up the dacha. We mowed the lot, shoveled all the trash out of the house, my husband and a friend re-slatted the roof, and tidied up the porch. We went every weekend to do something around here. We didn’t have a lot of time, but we tried to make the house livable.
We dreamed that we would set everything up here, change jobs, or work remotely, and live here in the summer. Although the house is suitable for year-round residence, but in winter no one here does not clean anything, the water supply is only in summer and none of the neighbors do not live. Yes, and the cottage itself for the winter residence must be prepared thoroughly, at least to install a warm bathroom, and we still have no money for such large-scale work.
By late fall we had time to do a lot. Of course, we left some things for next year, but most of the work has been done. We only need to bring some furniture and dishes, and then we can live normally.
– How are things at your dacha? I haven’t seen or heard from you all summer, and I never asked for help, – my mother-in-law asked me when we were at her birthday party in December.
My husband wanted to brag about how great we were, so he showed us the pictures. The cottage looked great in them, compared to what it was at first, you’d think it was a new house. My mother-in-law started groaning, and my sister-in-law joined her. They were praising us, and I had a feeling it was for a reason.
It was like a dream come true. As soon as spring came into its rights, mother-in-law began to hammer wedges, and when we go dacha, but that would go with us. My husband took my mother to the cottage without a backward glance. My mother-in-law looked around, admired what we had put in order, how cozy the house has become, and then asked whether we would mind if my mother-in-law and sister-in-law with the child would live here in the summer, when it would be warm.
I said we would. We actually had our own plans for the cottage. Two adults and a child did not fit there at all.
– Actually it is our family dacha, no one asked you, – she began to snap at me, but my husband reminded her that now it is our family dacha, and they have nothing to do with it.
This formulation of the question so outraged my mother, she made such a scandal. She said that she and her daughter ceded us this dacha, did the family thing, and now they are forbidden to go here. I was taken aback by the insolence. “Relationally” means to demand money at market value.
Husband sort of started mumbling something that sometimes they can go here, but I interrupted him and said that this is our cottage, so there will be guests here, people we will call ourselves. When we call my mother-in-law and sister-in-law, they will come and visit us. You have to put up the frames right away.
– That’s how! You have no say in the family at all. My sister with the child and my mother will stay in the city, because you can’t say a word against your wife,” my mother-in-law tried to put pressure, but it did not work.
My husband now gets a ton of angry messages from my mother and sister, saying that he is a wimp, that he does not care about his family, and that I twist them as I want. They tried to write me something too, but I blocked their numbers right away.
