My daughter-in-law won’t let me see my grandson if I don’t bring money, and my son won’t tell her anything

My son is not divorced, he lives with his sweetheart, but he has absolutely no say. Every time I come home, my daughter-in-law makes me promise how much money I have to bring, or else they won’t let me see my grandson.

They got married two years ago. I didn’t like this young lady right away. Her eyes were envious and her hands were grasping. Just stamped in the passport received, as soon began to argue that my three-three must change, half to give them for housing, and how it is a man and no apartment.

We had a fight with her on this subject, because firstly, I also have a daughter, and secondly, why on earth I have to change the apartment for the sake of her daughter-in-law? The children got an education, a start in life, and let them earn the rest by their own wits, because nothing fell into my hands at the time, my husband and I.

My daughter is still unmarried, she works, and she took out a mortgage. At one time she lived with me and rented out her apartment to make it easier to pay, but now she lives separately. My son, on the other hand, is a cunt. Doesn’t need anything for himself, looks his wife in the mouth. She doesn’t want to live with me, she’s a stranger herself, it’s not a tsar’s job to rent a place of her own.

I was not warmed by the prospect of living with her in the same apartment, but I would have gone for it, so that they could save for the first payment. And I’m not going to sell or give them anything at all. When I’m gone, the children will inherit half of the apartment, let them sort it out.

I said all this to my daughter-in-law, and not shy in expressions. Why, she’s not ashamed. She says, Mum, isn’t it too fat to live alone in a three-room flat? Is that a good attitude? I asked my son to put his wife down, but he only mumbled something indecipherable.

I don’t know who my son was born into. My father and I are tough, my sister’s tough too, but my son’s like a seal. In fact, I wonder how he managed to get married. I guess his daughter-in-law was itching to get married, so she took him in.

Since that conversation about the apartment, my daughter-in-law and I have not been in touch for a long time. My son called sometimes, but never came to visit, apparently his wife forbade it. I was also told over the phone that I was going to be a grandmother. It was touching, because it was my first grandchild. I wanted to make up with my daughter-in-law on this occasion, I bought a present, a cake, and came to visit, but she blurted out that her grandson would be born in someone else’s apartment, like a waif. She started talking about the apartment again.

Reconciliation did not work out. I did not quarrel with the pregnant woman, I just left. I think if a person is a fool, then it is forever. So I did not see her until the end of the pregnancy. I myself was not up to it, I had to run to doctors – my health had absolutely ruined. At the discharge also I was not called, that she gave birth, I learned only a week later – my son deigned to call.

He invited me to the show, then jumped into the conversation, my sister-in-law said that I can not bother with the gift, and give right away the money. I did not argue, money is money, parents know best. I took out my stash, because it is not every day a grandson is born. I got ready on the appointed day and went.

My daughter-in-law stuck her nose into the envelope from the doorstep and grimaced. Apparently, ten thousand for her is not money. She didn’t say anything out loud, but you could see from her face how displeased she was. I saw my grandson; he was a beauty, not a baby, and his nose looked just like his father’s. I didn’t stay long, I went home.
They didn’t ask me to visit anymore. I did not impose myself either, after all, having a baby in the family is such a thing, you have to get used to it. But three months later I realized that they were not going to call me, so I called my son and asked him to visit me.

I bought something for my grandson and a cake for tea, and then I went. My daughter-in-law met me at the door. She accepted the gifts, looked at me and frowned.

– Actually, I counted on the last time you all understood. We don’t need your handouts, we need money for the baby.

– So now every time I go to see my grandson, I have to take an envelope with me?

– What did you think? Because of you, we live on rent, my husband works alone. You have not done anything for my grandson, so at least give me money to support him.

My throat tightened with indignation. My son heard all this nonsense, but said nothing, and stood there with the baby in his arms, batting his eyes.

I turned around and walked out the door. I did not humiliate myself in front of some jerk! I don’t want to buy my own communication with my grandson.

We haven’t spoken in almost a year. They don’t call me, I don’t call them. But a week ago my son deigned to call, reminded me that it is my grandson’s birthday, I can come, just so I do not forget about the gift. My daughter-in-law immediately intercepted the phone and voiced how much I should bring as a gift. The amount was equal to my monthly salary.

I didn’t go because I just didn’t have that kind of money. I had already had to accept that I didn’t have this grandson, nor did I have a son. If I had a son, he wouldn’t have let his wife blackmail me with a grandson. Let them cook in their own swamp. I’m not going to pay to see my own grandson all the time.

I will also think about what to do with the apartment, so that even after my death neither my soft-hearted son nor his grasping young lady will be able to take even a bite out of it.
