Didn’t want a baby, couldn’t love it

I recently turned 25 years old. I had a family, healthy parents, a loving husband – everything seemed perfect. But then something happened… My husband, calm and caring, couldn’t love our baby boy.

My husband said more than once that he didn’t love children. Like, you have to think about yourself first, build a career, change the car, and then maybe think about the baby. I love children. I myself was brought up in a large family, so I dreamed of having a daughter and a son.

Two years later I got pregnant. I was afraid to tell my husband, even though I was over the moon. His reaction shocked me.

I want to say right away that I did not get pregnant secretly, I did not refuse contraception, etc. But my husband still blamed me and said that he was not ready to become a father. True, my parents reassured me, promising to help me physically and financially. I would have liked that kind of support from my husband, though.

He completely ignored my pregnancy and pulled away from me. It was like I was carrying a baby under my heart from another man. When I found out at the first ultrasound that we were having a son, I hoped that this news will melt the ice. Alas.

He came to the discharge, drove us home, and went to a friend’s house himself. I cried over my son, but I didn’t say anything to my husband-I knew what I was getting into. I thought that with time everything would change and he would get used to the baby.

It’s been six months now. My husband still won’t even go near my son. All he does is earn money, and sometimes he can help out around the house. But any request related to the child ends up being ignored.

In all these months, he only once took my son in his arms when my mother-in-law came to visit. I guess he didn’t want to embarrass himself in front of his family. And I was so hurt. I feel sorry for my son, because he is deprived of his father’s love.

I notice that my husband is becoming a stranger. Apparently, it is close to a divorce. My husband blames me for ruining his life. He wanted to kick us out, but then he apologized. Really, the words will forever remain in my heart…
