If we have learned anything over time, it is that animals have feelings and just like us, they experience all kinds of emotional pain and stress in certain situations. The issue is that in many cities they can’t allow them to be living on the street, so “Animal Control” officers are created.
These officers usually take them to shelters, where they wait for their owners and other strays try to be adopted, so they can finally find a home where they can be happy. In the process, especially when they are in cages, they often cry a lot and it is uncontrollable. Luckily, in North Carolina, one of their guardians is a talented musician and uses his skills to calm the dogs.
We’re talking about Chad Olds, a 40-year-old man who always carries his guitar wherever he goes and in his youth, he used to travel the country singing. One day, all the dogs in the compound started barking uncontrollably and being indoors, the sound was quite loud. His boss, Frankie Nobles, suggested that he take out his instrument and start with a show, where the audience would be in complete uproar.
Neither of them knew how the dogs would react to the music, however, for everyone’s sake, it was something they had to try. So he began to sing and play, observing that little by little the dogs were falling silent to listen to the private concert. Although some resisted and kept barking, as the song progressed, they didn’t resist Chad Olds’ talent and concentrated on the music.
“They just stopped barking, it blew my mind,” Olds said, keeping in mind that his first concert was Feb. 14. Then, they tried again, only this time they would be recording so they could document the well-being the music caused in the puppies.
Luckily, the video has become popular, giving visibility to all the dogs that need a home and encouraging other centers to do the same. They believe that with music, they can improve the stay of these dogs in Animal Control centers, they understand that they may be suffering. We hope that this action drives other animal control centers to follow the example of this good man, besides boosting adoption it also helps these poor canines to have a better time.
