Almost two years ago, I heard a phrase from my husband that I will never be able to forget again. He stated, “You live your life in such a proper and measured way that I became bored and uninterested with you.” Even though James thought our life was boring, I lived it and was happy with it. In the morning I got up early, had breakfast, did my exercises, and got dressed for work. The first thing I would do was get my husband ready, since he was leaving early, and then I would get ready myself. We had all of our food prepared at home; even at work I put a good lunch in containers for myself and my husband. Every night on the way home I would stop at the store, and then cook, clean, and do laundry. Before bedtime, a movie and bedtime.
I was sure I was right. Everything was perfect: my husband was well taken care of and fed, the house was orderly and comfortable. What more could I want? Every Saturday I did general cleaning throughout the house, baked something delicious, and cooked. And in the evening we would have friends over and have get-togethers at home or go out. On Sundays we would visit our parents. Half the day we were at one’s house and the other half at the other’s. We helped them with their chores, talked and enjoyed our time with our relatives. And in the evening we rested at home. We never quarreled, scandalized, or shouted. There was harmony and serenity in our home. But… One day my husband said he was bored with me. For several hours he told me that he was not satisfied and gave the example of his friends, who are having fun to the full. They live a fun and fulfilling life! Not like us. We don’t even fight with each other. So he just left that day.
I was completely happy with the way we lived and did not want to change anything. However, for the sake of my beloved I was ready to do anything, including change. At first I decided to change my image. Resolutely got rid of his closet. I went shopping and bought a lot of different clothes for the money that had been saved to buy a cottage. I cut my hair short and changed the color of my hair. In general, I decided even to look boring. Then I found a new job. I took not the usual office work, but the organization of celebrations. Thanks to my new job I discovered a huge amount of original entertainment.
A week later my husband came back and was shocked by what he saw. From that day on, I promised him that we would live in a completely different way. And so it happened. We were rarely at home now. Constantly on the move and on the go, lots of interesting acquaintances. We weren’t home for more than ten hours a week. Every night we went to a club, restaurant, bar, party, friend’s house, or whatever. We could go camping, go biking, go kayaking. We could go to another city for a weekend. But our story doesn’t end there, our beautiful moment.
A few months of our new non-boring life passed, and James started talking about how he suddenly wanted quiet, calm, just to sit at home. It turned out that he missed home-cooked meals and my baked goods. Now, however, I had absolutely no time to stand at the stove. I changed so much that my husband stopped missing my company.
And after another week, my husband informed me that he could not lead such an active lifestyle. He wants to get back to the good old days, to be quiet, cozy, and peaceful. He wants to spend his evenings at home, and on weekends he wants to go to his parents’ house and eat fresh, homemade food, not cooked and heated from delivery.
Only it turned out that I was no longer interested. I tried very hard to get used to the rough and tumble life, and now I absolutely did not want to go back to it and leave everything. The current lifestyle suits me fine. However, I also liked my previous one, but now I would not change it. This time, when my husband said he wanted to return everything as it was, a real scandal broke out. After all, it was his dream: the dishes were broken, the neighbors came, called the divisional. My husband went back to his mother’s house with his things. I think he expects to come back and find me like before. However, that would be too much. We’re not movie characters and we can’t change instantly. James will come home and find the divorce papers on the table and a note saying that I’m bored to live with him now.
