Animals are often looked down upon for believing that they don’t feel, that they are there to serve and obey us. But more than that, despite any submissive attitude they have before us, they can show great love and feelings that sometimes we do not deserve. On this occasion, it is about a horse that saw his sad caregiver crying and this one approached to comfort her, so that she could calm down.

Perhaps without knowing what was really going on, he showed a great capacity for understanding that sadness was flooding her soul at that moment. She related that she was going through a divorce at the time when the equine approached her.
“I was in the process of getting a divorce and I was moving that day […] I was just hiding from my emotions and my horse Shiner sensed it. He sensed my pain and simply pulled me to his chest to let me cry and soothed me with his nudges.”

This was possible because she always records her interaction with the animals at work, so she can observe them and understand them a bit more. However, that day she was very overwhelmed by her problems and couldn’t think of anything else, forgetting that she was recording herself.

While it was a sad moment for Shania, it allowed the world to be able to understand more about the kindness of these living beings and it helped her to see that other beings care about her as well. At the end of the day, she is their caretaker and they understand that she does her best every day to keep them healthy and well fed.
Shiner, just placed what would be her shoulder so she could have something to hug, an incredible and intelligent show of empathy. He even went to the trouble of stroking his back, no doubt he deserves all the hay bales available in that place for his kindness. The post was filled with thousands of comments praising the horse’s actions: “Some domestic animals are capable of showing more compassion than humans,” commented one.

“This leaves us a lesson that we should treat animals better, as they can understand pain and therefore feel it,” said another user.
“That’s true, I also have puppies and cats at home and they do the same when I’m sad,” commented a last one.
