A strong, close-knit family is characterized by the fact that the people in it experience the difficulties and joys of life together. They support each other. Each family member knows that they can always come home and share any problems.
Sometimes it doesn’t take much to create an atmosphere filled with happiness and love. And there are examples of this in the stories below.
My husband and I are short, both under 5’5″, but my dad is tall, at 5’9″. He also grew a long solid beard. So my dad started to always say to us when he walked in the house, “Hello, hobbits!” and we’d say: “Hello, Gandalf!”
Our family consists of me, my wife and two daughters. One day we were deciding who should go for a walk with the dog. To make the decision easier, we decided to play a silent game. The loser walks with the dog. The game began, and my daughter began silently getting dressed for the walk. Once dressed, she opened the door, taking the dog on a leash. The rest of the family looked at all this and almost in one voice said, “Pauline, good girl!” And Pauline smiled, “Gotcha!” And satisfied, she undressed.
There was a case with my boyfriend, when he came to my dad to ask for my hand and heart. And there my dad just collapsed on the floor screaming, “Finally you’ve come, savior!” It was Daddy who had been told such a joke once long ago, back in his younger days, and he kept dreaming of carrying it out.
I’m used to making breakfast in the mornings for my niece, she’s 8 years old. But on my weekends, I usually wake up a half hour later. And so the morning of the day off, I wake up to fry frosting and sandwiches, and there’s already tea, sweet cottage cheese, and two sandwiches waiting for me on the table. It was my niece who decided to treat me to this kind of breakfast on my day off. The kids are very grateful.
Once I got out to visit my mother’s village with my family (husband and son, 11 years old) and my brother with his (wife and daughter, 7 years old). While driving, we decided that the children will be very happy with water pistols – they will have fun. Found some really fun water guns. And then the kids had a lot of fun while the adults had their own “war” with these pistols.
When I was six years old, my mom and dad would often take me to the countryside in the evenings. My dad used to take a fishing rod with a small piece of wood attached to the float. And so we came to a very wide field, where daddy would come out with a fishing rod, start waving and squeaking, imitating the sound of a mouse. And after a while, a big owl would appear! It tried to catch the wooden rod with its beak, but it failed. And I was looking at it carefully. That’s how my father instilled in me a love for nature. Such moments are the most beautiful in my life.
Somehow it occurred to me that my husband and I weren’t fighting at all… I remembered how my girlfriends told me about their misunderstandings in the family, usually stemming from everyday life. I began to look around the apartment: clothes everywhere, scattered wrappers on the table among the unwashed plates and mugs. But my husband and I are not annoyed, and we are sitting on the couch, cuddling, and watching a movie. That’s how we are – two happy pigs.
Once I stood with my daughter in line for two girls. My daughter, looking at the magazines, said: “Daddy, look, there’s a fairy magazine with Flora on the cover.” And I said, “Daughter, it’s not Flora, it’s Bloom. At this point, both girls are surprised turned around at me, apparently surprised that my dad is on the subject of his daughter’s interests.
My husband lost his mother early on, my mother took over that role. And here we were sitting in a restaurant (me, husband, two sons and my mom) where my husband expressed a huge thank you to my mom, for her love as my own son.
My 8 year old daughter came running in from her walk and emotionally began to tell me:
– “Daddy, there was such a colorful butterfly outside! – She showed her hands something about the size of a hawk, – Everyone was afraid to come near it! Only the boys tried to go up and kill it, even with sticks, but they were afraid!
My daughter went on to tell the story with leaps and bounds:
– And I wasn’t afraid! Alone! – I began to tense up and was already preparing a speech that it was impossible to hurt anyone, as she continued, – And so I found a stick and was able to chase the boys away! So that they did not touch the butterfly! Then I chased her away myself, so she could fly away, and she was no longer offended.
